Founded
in 1911, the American Society of Safety Engineers, ASSE, is the oldest
and largest professional safety organization. Its more than 30,000 members
manage, supervise and consult on safety, health, and environmental issues
in industry, insurance, government and education.
ASSE
has 150 chapters, 56 sections, 64 student sections and 12 practice specialties.
ASSE is guided by a 16-member Board of Directors, which consists of
8 regional vice presidents; three council vice presidents; Society president,
president-elect, senior vice president, vice president of finance and
executive director.

Mission Statement
The CNY ASSE chapter is an association providing the professional development
and representation for those engaged in the practice of safety, health
and the environment and providing services to the private and public
sectors to protect people, property, and the environment.

and resource for those engaged in the practice of protecting people,
property, and the environment, and to lead the profession globally.

Working with Central New York ASSE Chapter leaders, Syracuse Mayor William F. Walsh and Onondaga County Executive John H. Mulroy sign a proclamation observing the week of May 2nd, 1965 as "Central New York Safety Engineering Week". This proclamation asked all citizens, business and labor leaders, officials and civic leaders to work towards a safer, healthier, productive city and county throughout each and every day of every year.
