The CNY Chapter of ASSE is returning to a full day Professional Development Conference! This year our conference is Thursday, September 21st at The Lodge at Welch Allyn in Skaneateles, NY.
Our conference will center on Emergency Preparedness / Active Shooter. A 2014 report from the FBI found active shooter incidents in the United States now occur on an average of once a month. Of these incidents, almost 46% occurred at a business while nearly one quarter (24.4%) occurred at Pre-K to 12 schools and institutions of higher learning.
The key note speaker will be Dale Currier, Director of Oswego County Department of Emergency Management. We will also have NYS Trooper Brian DeRochie discuss Threat Awareness and OSHA Assistant Area Director Jeff Prebish will provide information on OSHA’s emergency management requirements. During lunch we will conduct FEMA’s cyber attach preparedness exercises and provide you with resources for developing your own crises management program. After lunch the Syracuse Police Department’s SWAT Unit will provide an interactive session regarding what to do as a person / business when an emergency is unfolding around you.
